a40d question

what year did ford start using the a40d, transmission and what are the diffrence between it and the aod?

There is no a4OD. There is an A4LD or an E4OD. Which one do you mean?

The A4LD was used in smaller vehicles like the Mustang and Ranger. The E4OD was used in the F150-F550, vans, etc.
