Stage 1, 2, 3 ???

What is Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, wax? I've always just washed, dried, and waxed. What am I missing?

Step one is a cleaner, step two is a polisher, and three is the wax. I prefer McGuiers myself. There are other brands that you can use.
