Okay, so I'm sure you know that the F150 is not supposed to have a plow mounted on it unless it has the heavy payload package & plow prep. Personally, I wouldn't do it as I wouldn't want to stress the front end that much. Most reputible installers won't put them on unless the plow mfg. specifically states that the truck is OK, and to my knowledge, the F150 isn't. I had a 7' Fisher on my '89 F150, but even then it needed heavier springs to deal with it, and I took it off after every storm. I've seen plows toast a lot of 1/2 tons, the frames and front ends aren't up to it. Just my $.02.

If you have a Supercrew, the snow prep and the payload package are not even an option. Use of a plow can void all warraties on your truck. (depends the dealer looking the other way (or how far)).
IMO, because the extra weight of the cab reduces capacity, Towing and payload in a Screw is already lowered.

If you're not looking to plow commercially and it doesn't sound like you are, a light duty 7.5' plow will be just fine on your truck. I've run Fisher LD plows on a number of half tons with NO problems what so ever. The light duty Fisher weighs less then 500 pounds mounted, which should fall well within the wieght ratings of your front suspension.
Yes, you are at some level of risk with your warranty, but no more then when adding other aftermarket parts. But the one thing to consider is when you go to trade the truck. Many dealers will reduce the trade in value due to your plow, regardless of the plow design or the type of plowing you do. Just another excuse to screw you in the end.
Check out Fisher plows or Boss plows. Both good choices. Or if you want to keep the weight down low, consider one of the small poly plows. They offer downforce to make up for the weight difference, but they sure look weak.
