born again* newby with a '56 F350

I just purchased a 56 F350. What, if any issues can I anticipate finding stock replacement parts for items like a carb rebuild and brakes. I plan on upgrading to a dual master cylinder, will the ones advertised for the F100 fit the F350? Also any experience with electronic ignition upgrades for the 272 Y-block?
This has the 6 lug dual wheels (maybe all the F350s did).

*I had a 55 F100 in high school but my dad was the parts manager for the local Ford dealer then and I didn't have to worry too much about parts (Dad was a walking encylopedia of '47 to '77 Ford part #s and I paid dealer cost at the end of the month, life was good).

Hey glad to have you!! The points to electronic conversion kits are the same for the 350 as to the 100. Pertronix makes the kit and they are awesome!! As for the wheels and such, you'll have to wait for some of the big truck guys on here. I'm a lowered down guy!! F100's all the way. There are alot of knowledgeable guys on here about the big trucks and they will chime in anytime.

Welcome again is the title of your message "born again" just referrin to your truck or are you a born again Christian? I am,and I have some scriptures on my truck for folks who would never read the Bible under normal circumstances, but I find them writing down the scriptures. I know they'll go home and read them, and I think that's GREAT.

Again Welcome and glad to have you here.

The F-350 isn't exactly what I would call a "Big Truck," but it is getting there. The "Big trucks" don't start until F-700. (just dishing a helping of crap out there) As to the carb and stuff, the engine is the same from F-100 through F-500. The F-500 and 600 had HD options. The 6 lug F-350 was the same from '53 up into the 60's, maybe a little newer. Rebuild kits are available through NAPA, and other major parts distributors. There are also several restoraton parts suppliers. The well known ones....Carpenter, LMC, Mid Fifty, Etc. Etc, and the less known ones...Concours parts, Job Lot Auto, Etc., Etc.... Any how, welcome aboard, and get a gallery going ASAP so we can see your truck. Check Earl's world too, George has provided the world with a lot of technical data on his website, and it could be especially useful since he is resstoring a '56 as well.
