1994 Bronco Rearend

I just got a 94 Bronco with 102,280 miles on it. Seems to run good, but I noticed some play in the rearend. If you jack up the rear and pull or push on the wheels you get a slight movement in and out, definitely the whole wheel assembly. Is this common on the 8.8 rearend? I read something about spider gears on hear. Is this a symptom of bad spider gears?

Thanks Jason

Nope, it's normal, assuming that you really mean "slight".

I could probably get an exact measurement, but what is acceptable?
Thanks for the reply

All 8.8 and 9" rear ends have a certain amount of play.

> a slight movement in and out

That is okay, anything more then 1/4" then I would worry. What you should check is how much slop in the pinion.

Its an 1/8" max, there actually isn't all that much pinion slop. I checked that already.

Thanks for the reply
