EGT's are soaring

This is a 1994 that has aftermarket injectors, an intercooler and a superchips tuner installed. With no load on the truck the egt,s will go above 1300* in no time at all and the boost tops out at about 28#. This truck does have a 3 inch down pipe, the ebpv has been removed and the truck has a cat on it. Why are the egt's soaring on this truck?

Has it always been high or is this a new developement? also what IC are you running? Make sure you don't have any preturbo exhuast leaks or leaking IC boots. Also what air filter? Tuning shouldn't be the issue cause your not getting the full potential with the SC since it should only be pushing stock fuel unless your injectors have larger nozzles.

the truck was purchased about a month ago so i do not have much of a history to give you. it came with a swamped chip in it and it smoked like a train. it ran like one too. After it ate the tranny we had to have it taken out because the idle was terrible when we got it back. I have checked the boots and they seem to be in good shape and the clamps are tight. The air filter is a K&N and it has been cleaned. With 28# of boost I would think they are all tight. The intercooler boots are those orange ones. Is there a way to check these with the truck idleing?

that probably means no intercooler..lol, and the first problem is you have a cat on it with all that extra fuel, next how big is the K&N? it is for a diesel truck right? not the universal little thing?

and at 28 lbs of boost, your pushing a LOT of fuel. I wouldnt think that the truck would be starving for air at that number. I dont think its possible to get 28 lbs of boost on stock injectors. Even with a TW chip. Correct me if I am wrong.........
Someone, anyone........Bueller......Bueller..........

i would definitely think the cat is a big problem there. empty the cat out and see if that helps things out.

The truck has after market injectors. I do not know what they are. I may need to contact the previous owner to see if he has any records. Thanks guys! you have been real helpful. I will check the cat and see what happens. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. The air filter is a conical shaped filter designed for diesels.

cat is first choice, check back after its takin a vacation, should drop the number a good bit, also need a good intercooler, you can se 100 degree drops easily or more, removing the exhaust backpressure valve is good for 50 i beleive, good tuning from dp or tony wildman is a nice idea running bigger injecotrs....more power and lower egt's
