Thornbird review REDUX
Well I just had to share this with all you Thornbird fans out there. A buddy of mine just bought a set of 30x11.50x15 Thornbirds on 15x8 rims for his 80 something model chevy. He came to my hunting club today talking the big talk about his new tires. He challenged anyone to "follow me." After a few blue and silver cans I perked up and said aiiiight. 38" swampers and 500hp doesnt back down from much but granted I only have 2wd until I get my 60 under my truck. The stupidity of this guy was amazing. He started down a pretty slick but basically hard bottomed road and it was obvious that these tires were *****. At one particular point he told me on the CB that he would be fine IF his tires would sink enough to use the side lugs. Again we are talking 30x11.5 Turdbirds and 250hp 350 vs 38.5 x 14.5 500hp 460. We went through some holes but nothing I couldnt idle through. When the road got bad I said go ahead and Ill follow you. He took off at like 45 and hit a hole and skimmed across then hit the other hole and stopped. Bogged down..4lo...nuts on the ground...finished. He was turning the tires violently left and right trying to get "his side lugs to bite." I told him Id pull him out and did...In 2wd. This guy is still talking trash about I wont go through his ruts. SO I DID. THen when he bogged down in the first hole I backed into his previous ruts and pulled him out again. I appreciate that he was at a huge disadvantage of ground clearance, horsepower and tire quality but its his own stupid fault for talking *****. To put it in more equal terms my best friend followed me and him everywhere we went with a 01 F150 4.6 bone stock with 31x10.5x15 Trailblazers with 50,000 miles. He spun alot to stay with us but didnt bog down where thornbirds with less that 100 miles did.
I double dare anyone to say the 31" wore out trailblazers were the advantage over the 30" tbirds because of any reason other than they were a better tire... Even being worn out!
The moral of the story is: Drive a Ford, Dont buy Thornbirds and Get tight on a beautiful Saturday afternoon!

I just noticed the other day 4 wheel parts hasn't been listing them on the Interco ad page in their Off Road Adventures magazine. Score one for Thornbird haters. I also have a friend who thinks Thornbirds are the greatest tire ever invented because he used to have them on a Toy pickup he had back in the day. His naivity amazes me. My other friend and myself both have TSL swampers and Boggers. We always get into a heated argument with the other guy whenever the Thornbird subject is brought up. He always brings a knife to a gun fight, but never gives up that Thornbirds do in fact suck dog dicks

They only thing good I can say about the tire is: It look mean. All those lugs on the side wall, makes it look real aggressive.
Other than that, I can't think of anything. Mileage sucks, Road manners suck, there's nothing special about the price(LTBs are a lot better and cheaper), and they SUCK in the mud!

I just thought Id kick this dead horse again. Somewhere rolling around in my head where my brain should live I laughed when the guy started talking about how great his tires were. I thought about the thread we had on here a few weeks back and I had to update.
You guys owe me about 6 gal of gas and a 18pk for my research
