no smoke

If I remove the converter and muffler and replace the down-pipe with a 3 1/2" am I going to see more smoke from the tail-pipe? I have shimed the fpr to 72#. Other than that I did nothing. I have drove a 2001 with a super-chip set at 60 horse-power and did some testing on the road and think mine is just as strong. If not, to close to call with-out testing beside each other. Mine is a 95psd. 4x4.
Thanks for any help.

no you will probably not. you will gain more power from removing the cat also.
to get smoke you need more fuel. by way of a chip or 10k mod or injectors or a combo of all 3. i cant remember but i think a stock truck is really hard to make smoke. your buddies truck smokes because of the superchip.
your buddies truck also has a little bigger injectors. 130cc vs your 98cc.

have these guys help you so you can line up next to your buddy(on a track of course) and cruise right by him.

Question

So if mine does a good job keeping up with his pick-up mine must have either a programer or chip right. Since his injectors are larger and he has a program correct. I bought mine used so I don't know if mine is stock. I do know mine has the flat down pipe and stock exhaust though. I do get alittle haze when I get after her, But not what I would call smoke. I have owned 7 psd. But never chipped any... This one feels real healthy. I want to add gauges and a 6637 air filter and get rid of the exhaust restrictions. Will I notice a difference in power or economy wether or not the pick-up is stock or not by doing this????

thanks TONY

You won't gain any peak HP really. but with intake and exhaust you will gain throttle response (turbo spool up) and your engine can breath better so you may feel a little gain. Either way they are good things to do for your truck in the grand scheme of things even if you don't chip it.

Is yours the white or the silver back? Are they hard to install?
