I STILL think a stang front end (for the aerodynamics) with a pickup bed about ranger size would be a dream.
Not with a 2.3 though - those things are a nightmare.
If you are going to design a bellhousing, make it COMPATIBLE WITH SOMETHING ELSE. Or at least support it with enough low cost replacements. THAT THING is JUNK
You could make it a little larger. The bed is flat with fold down sides. Give it a little 4 place cab over passenger compartment and a small 4 cylinder diesel.
Ford of Brazil produces a current version of the courier based on the festiva. It's powered by a small 1.6L engine and runs either ethanol or gasoline. I couldn't translate the dimensions or wheel base into english units :\. But It looks like the same wheel base as the festiva to me.
For the record, the Brazilian Courier is based on the Fiesta car, not the Festiva. The 4-door diesel Ranger sold in Mexico, is built in Argentina. Both the Courier and the 4-door Ranger are sold in Mexico.
this may be illigal to talk about here, but i have a gmc s-15 that i traded some three wheelesr for, i have been thinking about finding a 6.5 for it for the mileage (since we all know that the 6.5 were junk for actually working)

it keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger...
I am currently working on getting one of my old Datsun pickups running again, Ford does not make any kind of a replacement for the Aerostar, and I need ot use something else for a daily driver
5.4 - that's in the rough neighborhood of a 325 CI or so, yeah?
I wonder if a Windsor will bolt up and fit well - if so, P.A.W. builds a 427W (just an idle thought)
One of those bone stock, on an American road would have Chevvy owners changing their seat covers....
THAT THING, just as it is, is the truck version of a Mustang Cobra
if i was to biuld a high mpg small truck it would have to be a ranger probably a newer one for aerodymamics with a 6 speed trans and a BMC/leyland 4 cyl turbo desiel, ive seen these engine in tractors work hard all day long on 10-13 gallons of feul
The Aussie design is sweet and a certain seller if they made it here. Too bad no one at Ford is smart enough to certify a test batch. They'd rocket off the dealers lots.

I'd like that, but while Americans SAY they want practical vehicles very few of them really do. They want STYLE. Any economy options should not be visible or audible,
