Boy dont we have somthing in common! Welcome to FTE! You need to include what T-case you have. They come with different cases so we need to know which one! On the back of the case there should be a round metal tag read the numbers. ex NP208.

my pos

it seems to engage at the transfer case. i get the low gearing of the low range at the rear, but nothing up front.
i can check the numbers though. if it helps, its a manual, stick shifted case with an auto trans. (i don't know if they had a push button one or something different)

There are a couple of things to look at. Put it in 4 wheel drive Jack it up put it on stands and then spin the front wheels and the drive shaft to the front wheels. Take a look to see what is turning if anything. You shouldn't be able to spin the drive shaft if your tcase is still good. I am not sure how the Auto hubs work but they could be your problem. Then report back with your results.

right on.
The problem started, i think when i got it stuck in a huge puddle and i got it towed out hours later, blew the motor on the way home, still drivable on six of 8 cyls. I dropped in an 88 302 with injection. i didn't flush fluids, exept in the motor, maybe i missed a vacuum line? or are the hubs mech. or elect locking?
