im lookin into swapin my 292 out of a 64 ford f100 4x4.
ive found a guy whos got a running 332 and clark 5 speed for 300 bucks, its in a 61 f600
the motor looks like it has almost identical mounting (the three mount system)
i guess i was wondirin if it was the same mounting, and more importantly what new head-aches will acompany this motor. im assuming its not real common or easy to get parts for, any opinions on this swap idea... should i just keep lookin?

Actually I think most of the parts would be the same as other FE/FT engines so I wouldn't worry too much about that. If you do find that the engine is just giving you too much trouble, you should be able to swap in a 391 truck engine or a 390 with no problem.
As far as the mounting goes, I have no clue, you should carefully measure everything and expect to make a few mods as needed. $300 sounds like a very fair price.

Sam, I believe I have read here that the 292 & FE has different bell bolt patterns. Since the 332 had such a limited life, I think I would pass on it. 64 was the last year of the front/back mount system. In 65 Ford switched to the side mount.
There are kits available to convert in the later engines, so look at all of your options, and then decide.

Sam, the 332 is not the most popoular FE/FT out there, but if it has the mounts you need and a 5 spd with all the clutch gear, I would consider it. If something breaks lots of FE/FT parts will interchange from 390s and 391s. For 300$, a running engine and tranny combo sounds cheap. What kind of Clark ? Is the front of the crankshaft large or small ? DF

im not sure about the trans, altho now that i think about it it did look a bit long. ill have to measure everything pretty good to ensure that it will be short enough that i can still have a shaft between it an the xfer case.
my other thought was where would i get clutch parts for it? im assuming autozone wont carry them on the shelf. "it might need a throwout bearing"
this guy has alot of hd truck stuff for cheap, i kinda wondering what else can be made to fit the t-98. do i even want to keep the t-98?
he also has a 77 400m and c6 which he clams ran for $250,
and two more 1960 f600 both with 223's, but he dont know if they run or not.
im not sure if my backyard engeering skills are quite that good tho, and im trying to do this as cheap as possible, so im in need of lots of help.
thanks guys letting me ramble
