2008 V-10

I'm looking at getting an 08 F-250 with a V-10, first off what kinda mileage towing and regular driving can I expect? Also how is towing performance towing about a 7000-8000 pound trailer? My truck will be a crew cab, short bed, with 4.10s, torq shift.

YES...most '08 SD with V10 3v are special order. Takes about 8-10wks to receive.

10 city and 12 highway for mileage. Towing in the 7-8k...you should get between 8-9mpg.

Hope this helps...

I got really lucky and found a truck that matched 90% of what I wanted on a local dealers lot!
So far my Crew short bed with 4.10 rear and the big wheels averages around 12.5 mpg and towing our 7k 5th wheel gets 8 mpg (only have towed it once so far for about 160 miles). This is with only 2500 miles on the truck.

When the V-10 gets between 5,000 and 10,000 miles on it mileage improves approx +1 mpg (at least it did in my old V-10).

Don't know just how to tell you this, but -

Towing any 7000# or greater tt with a Ford, Dodge or Chevy will only net you about 8-10 MPG. Simple physics. And running in really hilly country with steep grades, look for 6 MPG! Been pulling a 10K tt with an '05 F250 5.4L/3.73 - 9 MPG on interstates & 4 lanes. Pulled with '08 F350 v10/4.10 - 9 MPG. And if you insist on hitting every hill wound out as tight as it will go, and 70 mph towing, it's even lower.

Thanks thats what I expected, with my 94 F-150 when I pulled a 5000 pound trailer up stevens I got 9-10 mpg. But I the V-10 with be way nicer to tow with than the 5.8

Gotta pay to play. I've towed over 10k miles in the past 12 months and do not plan on slowing down next year. I get 8.0 - 10 towing and 12 - 13 unloaded, do obviously I didn't buy this thing to gain entrance into "Green-R-Us" fraternity, nor did I buy it to drive around and look good. I bought it to pull.

Either pay for the diesel up front and get an additional 2 or 3 mpg over the life of the engine while towing, or pay quite a bit less on purchase and pay a bit more at the pump. Yes, that's oversimplification, but it's the bottom line.

My 08 4x4 v10 Lariet 4.10ratio with a little less than 2k on the odometer gets just under 10 mpg pulling a 21ft searay (about 6k) from the SF bay to lake Berreyessa (90 miles each way with a few hills in between ) This is actually a little better milage than what I get with our Sequoia as well as my old Dakota so I'm pretty happy so far. Around town is around 10.5 to 11 MPG and unloaded on the highway about 12.5 or 13MPG with a tail wind. Whats interesting is that it seems to be getting stonger the more miles I put on it. I like this trend. Thanks to this forum as well as the 6.4L forum for educating me on the pro's and cons of these machines and helping me make the right decision for my needs. In fact it was this very forum that caused me to search the bay for a V10 to test drive. I found only one and it was love at first drive. I bought it on the spot and never looked back. I bought on a slow Sunday afternoon and managed to get 2k under invoice. From what I hear they don't deal as well if you order but I may be wrong on this one. I personnaly don't really care about the milage anyway. For me its about the truck and its capability. Not to mention it is just the biggest badest and best looking truck out there today. How do you beat that?
