Preferred 390 Block

I'm getting too many trucks in my yard and too many engines setting around so I'm going to sell two of them. I have two engines and one needs to go into a truck I'm going to sell. I want to keep the best parts for a potential future build up.

I'm debating which parts to keep. I have a 1975 block with a 360 crank and D2TEE-AA heads. I also have a 1966 390 block with (352) stamped on the back. It has the 390 crank and C7AE-A and C6TE-G heads. It has a matching GTA 390 C7AE intake manifold.

I've been planning to save the 1975 360 settup with block and heads but swap out the 360 crank to keep the 390 crank from the 1966 engine. I'll keep the 1975 block because it has thicker cylinder walls, and the D2TE heads because I hear they are thicker and can be ported well.

Is this a good decision?? Is there another reason to keep anything from the 1966 T-Bird engine??

Preferred 390 Block

The 66 being a pre-smog engine would be a hotter block, made in the hey-day of the FE, but if you are planning on tearing them down and building them up anyways the 75 might indeed be a better bet. I say that because you stand a good chance of actually having a tough-as-nails FT block converted to a 390. The D2 heads are good for working, but I wouldn't say they were any better than the ones on the 66. Your plan sounds good to me...but is there such a thing as too many trucks in your yard?
