K and N Oil Filter

Hi Everyone.Quick question. Is it true that K&N Oil filters can be replaced every 12,000 miles and the air filter up to 60,000 miles? My mechanic tells me this but I have come to rely on this website.I haven't found these specs on either the box the parts came in or the K&N website.

IMHO, oil and filters should be replaced fairly frequently, and I don't see 12,000 miles as "frequent"! Most of the damage to engines hs to do with acids etc which are not controlled by filters.

Considering how little oil and filters cost, skimping on them is a false economy...

I've never heard this claim. I used K&N oil filters on my Ranger for a while simply because they have a higher burst strength and didn't blow apart on cold weather startup like several others I'd tried. (I had an OP problem, but that's another story...)
