How much larger are the mirrors than the older style?
thanks

The 08 mirrors he sells are the OEM mirrors you can see on an 2008 Super Duty. Stop by a dealer or find one on the road somewhere to see the difference in person. The 08's are a good bit larger and provide a much better spot mirror. Yes the heat turns on when the ignition is on. You can get the mirrors with or without the marker/turn signal lights. They are bright enough to pass DOT/OEM specs.

Heat is built in, and is most likely in your specific model managed by a timer inside the truck. The mirrors do have Heat, Side marker and turn signal , and yes they are bright.

There are double throw rocker switches available from places like McMaster-Carr. They spring back to center when released. Guys with older trucks, mines an 04 can use these for a retrofit. I personally don't need the heat feature. I like the power in and out and flip feature. I fold mine back every time I park in a lot.

getting ready to install the mirrors on my '06 what are the wire differences?

Do you know what the wiring is for this? I am trying to replace mine and the colors are not matching up...

I got power heated mirrors, manual telescoping/folding. If you're going to spend $$, get the newer style - the older ones still cost about the same if I recall.

There are several wiring variations, take care to get mirrors that will plug up to your '05 connectors or come with an adapter. wiring is a piece of cake for me, so I got ones with the newer plug and made modifications so I could use them (I think that is detailed in the thread I linked).

Depending on what you get, you may need to add some extra wiring in your door or plug if it does not match up with what you have now (electrically).

I originally was going to get the more popular 1AAuto ones here: Ford Mirror Pair - 1AMRP00611 at 1A Auto.com
Yet found some much cheaper on Amazon and have been quite pleased with them:
