I ran into a problem when trying to bolt my old oil filter housing
on my new 390 block...darn thing won't fit. Mine is a lot narrower
than what the block seems to require. It came off of a 360 out of my
76 F150 4x4. Are there different housings available?

yes there is more than one kind. I have a 63 and a 74 390. they each have different oil filter adapters. I don't know when the change was made though.

 

Dutch, I've seen five differant styles of filter adapters on FEs from the factory, but have always found them to be interchangeable, same pattern on every block. What year block do you have and what kind of filter adapter are you trying to put on ? Most pickup trucks have a n adapter that holds the oil filter up and staight out sideways. If the one your trying to install seems narrow, is it 90* turned from where it needs to be ?.......DF
