aurgathor, I thought you were using this as reasoning for not using alternative fuels.....
Did I misinterpret?

This was originally meant to be an informative post (really! ) with a bit of ethanol bashing. However, there were some unexpected turns...

I'm not against alternative fuels *in general* (sooner or later, we'll be running out of fossil fuels), but they shouldn't be significantly worse than the current crude based fuels. Corn ethanol is a prime example of an alternative fuel I don't like for a number reasons that has been spelled out in other threads.

I like ethanol from a performance standpoint, but like you, don't think that corn is best source.

All I know is a pound of bacon at the local Albertsons costs ~$7.00 now that the price of corn has skyrocketed courtesy of the ethanol boondoggle. Great for farmers, but is it worth driving up the price of food for every American (and Mexican, and African, etc.) to produce fuel with 2/3 the BTU per gallon as gasoline?

Sadly, twenty years from now when the global warming swindle is but a memory the people cramming it down our throats will still be considered credible as the peddle their costly solutions to the next great "threat to humanity as we know it"...
