RAMS Horns!

If anyone wants to see what a set of new ceramic coated Rams Horns looks like on a Y-block....have a look at my Gallery!

Cheers,

Rick

Real nice. Those ram's horns sure look sweet ...

Myself, I've only got the scratch for one rams' horn. The asymmetry should be a nice conversation starter. But hey, I'll have duals.

Nice. Is it coated on the inside?

Looks like you got the ECZ-B intake.

I notice that the oil sender in on the back of the oil passage. Any particular reason for that location?

Tell me that's not a Fram oil filter.

1. Yes they are coated inside and out.

2. ECZ-B yes. I have a 4160 carb. I'm not sure that's going to be the right carb though I'm hoping it might work but I don't expect it to work correctly. I'm probably better off selling it and getting something else...It's a rebuilt marine carb from an OMC 460 stern drive.........suggestions?

3. It's a Baldwin B2......No Frams here! I use Baldwin on the 6.5L diesel, Johndeere/Onan/Yanmar powered mowers/tractors, all the cars, boat etc. If they made one for the airplane I'd use it there too.

4. I put the oil sender in the hole that didn't have a plug in it. I probably won't leave it there though...I'll probably move it it up to the front.

Fram Baaaddd.
I tried to pull out the oil galley plug at the back so I could move the sender from front to back, but couldnt get it to break free. On this new C2AE block I was planning to put the sender at the back but guess what, there wasnt a rear galley hole behind the oil filter, only the boss. Should have drilled and tapped one in but didnt.

I don't know where I actually want to put it right now. I have 3 or 4 places I could put it I guess. I also have a remote oil filter mount that came off the OMC 460 that I might usetoo. That'll give me the ability to use a longer filter and put an oil cooler in line too. I have been thinking about using an electric fan and if I do that I know I'll need all the cooling I can get. I will probably shy away from an electric fan though. I lean towards a clutch type fan instead.....they work so much better and when you need to turn a fan no electric motor can match the engine!
