F150 Roush Hood Scoop

F150 Roush Hood Scoop
Has anyone installed the Roush Hood Scoop on their new body style F150 and made it functional? I like the way they look but I wouldn't want to put a hood scoop on my truck if it doesn't add to the performance. I'm sure a body shop could customize the hood to make it functional. Just curious if anyone has already done so. A whole new hood with a scoop is quite pricey and not very many of them look as nice as the Roush scoop in my opinion.

evilwayz7,
I have a Roush scoop on my truck, but it's purely to let everyone know that they are not dealing with a stock truck.
Anyway, that said, I think you are in for a bit of work to make the scoop functional. First you need to cut it open, which sounds easy enough, but the scoop was never designed to function, so you'd have to reinforce the underside of the scoop and create the air diverters to get the air inside the hood.
Next I'd think you'd have to modify the stock hood to get the air to the airbox. Most aftermarket hood that do this use internal ductwork to funnel the air to the filter, which is located way up front.
Nice Idea though and I would buy a hood from Roush that had a functional scoop, but from what I have seen of other manufacturer's hoods, such as the Goodhood, I'm not overly impressed with the looks like I am with the Roush.

I do not personally have any metal or fiberglass experience but I know if you can think it up it can almost always be done. Its just a matter of weighing the money to do it and if its even worth it. I say Roush should just use that style of scoop and make it a functional hood. I like that hood scoop better than any aftermarket hood I've seen with a scoop on it. I say either maybe just deal with the fact that it is not functional or don't use the scoop at all.
