'87 Ranger 2.9L fuel delivery issues
hoping someone can help me out here. I 've got a 2.9L in my '87 Ranger. I've got good spark at the plugs and good fuel pressure at the injector rail. when I check the fuel pressure at the valve their is plenty of fuel. I changed the fuel pressure regulator and engine still won't fire.
When I changed the fuel filter I pullled the canister off and their was no filter on the filter inside the frame below the cab. this was done by previous owned apparently for some reason. probably a lack of $ 6.00 for a filter. a little sand and debris was in the canister.
Is it possible all the injectors could be plugged? after rolling it over I pull plugs and they are all dry.
before it quit completely I would hold it at 2000-3000 rpm for a couple minutes then it would die. after I waited a few minutes it would start and do this again. now it won't do this at all.
maybe I should check all injectors for voltage next. It seems to me that fuel is not getting to the cylinders. hoping for a little advice on what I should troubleshoot next. thanks in advance. Mark

Drain the rail and line to the fuel filter A bit of compressed air 15psi through the valve to back flush would be good. Refill fuel filter with fresh fuel, fill fuel rail with fresh fuel and a ounce of gas line dryer, Put a couple a bottles of gas line dryer in the tank and crank it! Water in the injector tips will clog them up it has a higher surface tension so gas can't get by the tiny opening.
