1956 Leaf springs

On my 1956 F100 I have 9 leaf spring That including a helper springs. This seems way to stiff. I lowered the truck by 2 inches with a rear extended Y hanger shackle Kit. What would be the right amount of leafs that I should run on this truck? I live in upstate New York and our roads are not the best . I am not looking to lower it to much. Any taught out there

Since you have 9 leafs, I'd start by removing maybe 4. That would for sure soften the ride, however be aware, when you removed the leafs, it will also lower your truck. Remove every other springs.
