I have a 2000 F150 with 5.4 and some type of transmission. I should know this but I don't. But my question is how often should you change the transmission fluid.

i prefer to get the original out at 20,000 miles. then change out about every 50,000 after that. that being said, i bought a 2001 with 125,000 that never had a change. i did change oil and filter the first week, now plan to do again avery 50,000. ------ the 2000 will have a drain on the converter so you can drain 8 quarts out of it, pull the trans pan and get 5 quarts and filter out of that. probably has the 4R70 trans and uses MERCON V.
