If you had less than 100,000 miles it should have only cost you $100. Otherwise I am not sure, maybe someone else can help.

If your truck is still within the 5/100K Emissions warranty then it should have cost you Zero. There is no deductible on the Emissions warranty.

EGR valve = $176.50
http://www.directfordparts.com/partl...04&catalogid=1

Tube = $17.67
http://www.directfordparts.com/partl...04&catalogid=1

Total Parts $194.17
Less than an hour shop time to diagnose and change the valve.
So it shouldn't have cost more than $350.00 parts and labor.

That sounds a little high. $350......no way at a dealer. I would estimate around $7-800 to be average.

Yeah, Blackhat is using DirectFordParts discounted part pricing. The dealer would probably try to charge list price, unless you complained about it. So if you went by list price

EGR $333
Tube $25
Labor $160 (1 hour for diagnosis, 1 hour for part replacement at $80/hr)
Total $518

$1200 seems way high. I would like to see how the service department broke that down.

I was thinking he meant the EGR cooler. I don't think I've ever seen a dealership shop give discounted parts prices, but maybe there are some kind ones out there. Usually list plus--I have seen as high as 35% over list. Maybe the OP can clarify his parts a little bit.

y'all are pretty high, round here it's at 70 an hour. Which is pretty much what most shops charge unless you are really able to haggle with them.
