SkyJacker 3" lift yay or nay?

Hey guys -

I have the truck in my sig, and I want to lift it. I don't feel like spending 2000 for a 6" suspension lift, although I would love to do it!! But the 2" or 2.5" is to small for me to bother with. Any news on the skyjacker 3" it's like $500 and im' not sure how big of tires i can fit.

Thanks

Brian

Check out pics in my gallery. I have this lift. Some people on the forum say they have had problems with the shocks, I have had no problems at all. I am running 285 BFG's but you can definitly go bigger. The 305's were not in production when I had my stuff installed.

The only thing to be concerned about is once you get use to the 3 inch lift, you will want to go bigger. Good luck and post some pics when you are done!!

i have the 2.5 on my fx4 and i clear 33 12.5 18 with no prob and it only cost about 130, you could possibly fit 35s but not if you want to do any sort of off roading. and it sits pretty good like it is now.

Either way wouldn't be bad.

You could do a 2.5" leveling kit up front a add a leafs in the back, and have a decent lift like that, or the 3" skyjacker(I'm really not to familiar with them).

My dad's 04 F150 has a 2" leveling kit and has 34" LTBs, and clears them fine with NO rubbing. If you keep the stock wheels you can fit 35s on a 2.5" LK(which are basically only 34.5s and my dad's 34s are a true 34).
I don't see the 3" kit allowing you to run anything bigger than that.

Do they make a kit where you can save some money on the 2.5 with the AALs? I think I'll go this route due to easy installation and take off it I need to go bigger. Also 35x12.5x18 is what I was looking at going, but not many options, possible to use a metric size? Thanks guys for all of your help!

Here's the 3" lift on ebay. I might be something to consider, b/c I guarentte you the stock front shocks are going to need to be replace by about 30-50K miles. This kit comes with new shocks that will give you 3" lift, and a add a leaf for the rear.

You can check ebay. I've seen the 2.5" auto spring leveling kit with add a leafs together before.

Do you think the 3" lift would be better than the 2.5? I'm just trying to get 35's to fit on stock rims for now eventually going with new rims. THanks for the link!

IF you plan on replaceing the shocks, then the 3" includes them. That'd be one reason to consider it, it's a extra .5"(not much), but something to think about.

I have the 2" and 34s with no problems. If I'd do it again, I don't know what I'd choose, but I'd do some research to see which one would fit my needs.

Do you know if the cv joint angles would be something to worry about or not with the 3"? Thanks again for your help

This was a slight probelm when they first came out, but people have had them for a while now with no problems. I've had the 2.5" leveling kit for at least 35K miles, and haven't had a thing wrong, just realign it after the install.

Alright, so you have the 2.5 with 34s? Is this a metric tire size or is it like 34x1250x18?

i have the 3" skyjacker and am really pleased with the driveablity. at first the leafs and front coil holder made a bunch of noise. you just need to wd-40 up the leafs some. as far as the front...i guess it just needs to settle in. it was not the uca's or 1/2 shafts popping either. the only problem i had w/ the 3" is they do not include a cushion for the new shock where the upper coil mount sits on top of it. the oem pine cone bushing (you will see what i am talking about when you change it out) has to be cut right above the largest diameter part so you will not have metal on metal touching. i even called skyjacker and they first said metal on metal, then renigged and said use the pine cone thing.
the looks of the 3" are great, plus the add-a-leaf helps strengthen up the rear end. before, my truck would push in turns with oem front suspension and tires. after the install and new pro comp 33" (which could be bigger) the truck handles really, really good. there is a little bump steer though, nothing to be alarmed about.

Sorry I put the wrong thing. I have the 2" leveling kit, and the tires are Super Swamper LTBs, and they are 34x10.50-17s(and measure a true 34).

There are different meteric sizes that equal to about a 35" tire. Some are 325/65R18 or something close to that.
