We all have a new gauge to buy!!

Well its been rumored for a few months now but now it official. there is a HPOP guage for us! Its big money but it would be very nice for tuning for those who don't have a scan tool.

says it connects to factory ICP sensor, wonder if if it reads off the same one as pcm or if you have to buy another sensor. IMO if you need a gauge for testing just go down to the hydraulic shop and have a $20 and hose made up. There's no point in buying that high priced gauge for a couple hours of tuning and its worthless once you know where your icp is.

Seems like a lot of money, but...

Wonder why it appears to be reading pressure when it isn't connected to anything. Hope that's just advertising, otherwise, the guage would appear to be inaccurate.

the scanner is not going to be accurate once you put a chip in since the chip\tuner modifies the icp signal. you would ultimatly need a gague to figure it out, i believe that is why i dont have icp codes when i put my 22k in, the pcm still sees the oil in spec, the only real way to view it with a chip is to use the gauge

I wonder does it have or require an isolator? Seems if it had a leak you may have a problem on your hands. 2500 psi can cut skin easily. Oh well it is nice addition for those who must have all the gauges possible and I am one of them (thanx tim ). To connect to ICP does it have a "T" or splitter ortie into the wires ? I guess I am asking is it mechanical or electric? Very informative post tim thanx

i would imagine its electric and runs off the icp signal wire, nobody in their right mind would run 3500 psi oil in between their legs

I would guess it would tap into the ICP. Since it would tap into the ICP the signal will be accurate but with a chip it "reads" differently to the PCM. But Luke is also right that it doesn't take much to make a HPOP gauge. It not on my short list of things to have cause I can do alot with $200 but some might like it.

So tim you mean the gauge will read accurate with a chip but the ICP will see something different?

no, the signal coming out of the icp will always be correct, the signal the pcm infers from that voltage is manipulated by a chip

The signal off the ICP will still be an accurate/clean signal if its tapped into. But the PCM interprets it differently with a chip. that is my assumption since the PCM takes in values from sensors and simply compares them to a preset chart then takes the appropraite action. so the signal from the ICP is still accurate but the PCM interpretes it differently. This will not be true with a 10k mod though.

it will still be true if the 10k is done my way and you tap before the resistor
