Exclamation 4 Door Bronco 1978/1979

I have seen them built and am wondering if anyone here has done it. My crewcabs and my 78/79 Broncos aren't selling so I would like to talk to someone who has done it and pick up some pointers, so I don't wreck a crew and a bronc in an attempt to build.

I have a 139" wheelbase 1978 supercab shortbed 4x4 frame ready to use but am nervous about starting the project. I am a pretty good welder/fabricator, but have a friend who is an excellent bodyman/painter for backup.

If anybody here can help, it would be greatly appreciated. And don't tell me I'm crazy, we already know that.

Thanks in advance.

Where exactly did you find a Supercab shortbed 4x4 frame ? That configuration was not produced by Ford until the 80's ?

Find it??????

You are exactly right squeezer, It is a 1978 F150 supercab 4x4 frame shortened by 16". Actually a very easy job, and hard to find if you are careful. It has Dana 60/70 and no powerplant and its screaming ("don't forget me") everytime I walk past it in the barn. It still has a cab on it, left over from my 4wheeling days.
Quit after $.65/litre gas . now its $.98

I'll probably use a 6.9 or 7.3 diesel 5spd.
