hit the brakes , went right, missed ladder

I was on the way from back from lunch going about 60 or so when the truck in front of me hit the brakes and went to the right , I hit the brakes hard and heard the tires squeal a liitle , saw the ladder about 25' in front of me ,so I went hard to the right to go around it . I missed the ladder and kept on going. I will say this . I never even thought I was going out of control at all, the expy handled great with very little body roll if any.Any one else had to make a quick move to avoid junk in the road?
