97 F-150 won't start

My friend has a 97 F-150 2WD with the 4.2L V6 and around 80,000 miles on it. He said that it turns over but won't start. I have not had a chance to look at it and do not know much about that engine or even much about that body style truck. I told him to do the regular run through and check for spark if possible and check to see if he can hear the fuel pump working. Have not heard back from him yet but was wondering if there are any known things that go out around this mileage, or any things to check for. I do know that his engine was replaced about 10,000 miles ago. Thanks for any info,

Derick

Hey Derick. You might check the fuse box inside the truck, and the fuse center under the hood on the drivers side, a black box. I think there is a fuse for the ECM computer. Could be a fuel pump relay. Let us know what you find.

Boss

Hey, I had the same problem on my '97 F150 4.6L V-8. I shut my truck off when I got to work and when I went to leave, it turned over but would not fire. Come to find out, the iginition coil went out on me. I found out the expensive way by letting the Ford dealership find the problem and fix it. You might have your buddy check this out. Let us know what you find.

Don't forget to check the inertia switch in the passenger side kick panel.

fuse

I just had this problem on my truck too. what it was for me was the starter silnoid, and the #24 fuse in the power distrubution box under the hood. this was the 30 amp fuse. you say the engine was replaced, this raises red flags, check to make sure you dont have any wires on or around the exhaust manifolds or pinched wires in the engine compartment. hope this helped.
