Mike SVOR is starting off with a positive reputation.
Has anyone ever had their bumpers rechromed?

I was thinking about how much it would cost to have my new 08 f250 bumpers chromed or nickeled.

Anyone done it?

Not an authority, think it depends on process the plater uses, took bumper to plater with very good reputation for 64 passenger car, est. of $500-$600 total for both, straightened and rechromed. Previously took bumpers from another vehicle to a budget plater and chrome plating lasted approx. 3 yrs.

I have had bumpers, brush guards and small pieces replated. With nickel, not chrome. It looked good for years after wards. And I was just looking at my 94's front bumper. It is starting to look dull. Maybe that's next. The rear bumper is a rebuilt as some gal took a liking to it and wanted a closer look. OOPS! Now the front appears dull comparatively speaking. I dunno about doing a painted part to chrome and or nickel. Just have to ask I suppose. Used to be that the painted bumpers and trim parts were different material and or lower quality. Today, I would think some of those parts are chromed/painted plastic.

It would be cheaper to just get a new take off. Places that put on winch bumpers and heavy duty rear bumpers sell them for around $150 each. Check ebay or your local truck accessory dealer.
