i know this must have been asked a thousand times already so i'll make it a thousand and one.
i'mm putting in a 390 in my 69 f100 three speed. it has a 360 in it already ( cracked block at 3 of the cylinders) will my flywheel fit the 390?
also i'm getting an engine from advance auto parts, does anyone else have one from them? how is it holding up?
thanks for any help

Yes the flywheel will fit. I have heard both pro and con on the Advance Auto engines. These are built by local (regional machine shops), verses a builder like Jasper Engines. I'd save all the receipts and go for it.

it's 1255.00 with exchange or add 250.00 if you want to keep your core. long block everything except valve covers, timing chain cover, oil pan, dist., exhaust manifolds, intake and carb, and a couple of other items i don't recall. gaskets for everything is included though. it comes with a 15 month unlimited milage warrenty and for 100.00 more you can get a 36 month. seems a bit steep but this is my daily driver and i cann't afford to have it down but a couple of days.
on the brighter side the wife gave her 100% approval for a new (rebuilt) engine and seems as excited as i am about getting one. my boy will also get more practice at lowering an engine SLOWLY :-staun
take a look at my gallery. ill take several pictures of the whole process from arrival in the crate to finished install and stick them in my gallery.

i ordered the engine today should get it in 1-3 days.
i used a regular hydralic engine hoist. after a few quick instructions on operation of the hoist i let my boy (13 years old) have the handle. thought letting him let the engine into it's resting place would give him a sense of pride for all his hard work that weekend. with everything set and me pushing on the engine to help align it i told him to SLOWLY LET IT DOWN. next thing i know i'm doing a quick count of my fingers and wondering why it fell 2' onto the crossmember. well i looked at him and looked at the engine then back at him and said sure am glad i wasn't in there with it. after a weekend from hell ( finding out i had 3 cracked cylinders, worn out mains, scared crank, clogged oil passages, and heads that were completely shot) i'm suprised he wants to help again. you can bet well have several dry runs letting the hoist down this time.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Dec-02 AT 08:39 PM (EST)]Sounds like your guardian angel was working overtime. I'm glad noone got hurt.
I have a feeling your son learned what NOT to do.
