Now that is what I was hoping to hear!

So...is the exhaust brake basically the same (design etc.) as the 6.0L version? Or did you guys have to do a complete re-design? I figured the electronics would be different...

shhhhh, don't tell anyone but we took the 6.0L brake and bolted it right on the 6.4L and what da ya know it worked LOL. Like I said it set some check engine lights and the transmission was not down shifting like we would like to see it so we have to re-develop the tranny controller (Auto Loc) eletronics and some electronics to correct the check engine lights.

Hi Dave
I was under the impression that none of the exhuast system could be legally modified. Will adding the exhaust break void the warrenty? Will it also get you in trouble with CARB?

We are not necessarily modifying the exhaust... we are simply placing a valve in it. As far as warranty on the truck we do not control that, that is something that needs to be discussed with the dealer. Is the same as any after market product, its all up to the dealer, always has been, some are friendlier than others.

We are not modifying the exhaust per say, installing a valve in the system can be argued and modifying I guess. Warranty is up to the dealer/manufacture, we have no say if after markets products will void your warranty or not. The Magnuson Moss Act clearly states they can not void your warranty if the after market product was not proven to cause a failure but that is an up hill battle to say the least!

Its the been that way for ever, after marker products vs manufacture warranty, some dealer are friendlier than others.

Thanks for the info Dave. I understand about the warranty stuff.
This is also the first year for smog crap on the Diesels. I was under the impression that you could not modify any of the exhaust from the Turbo's back to the exhaust tips. If you do modify it then the device would need to be CARB certified. California seams to have smog police every were. In 4 years I believe owners of the 08 truck will more than likely have to go through a smog station to renew there registration.
I would not mind having the exhaust break on my truck Every little bit of breaking helps. To bad you did not have it available several months ago. I could have given it a good test pulling 19Klbs from California to Alaska and back.

Some years of the 7.3's and 6.0's had smog crap on them. It was useless to the bone but it was there.
