I realize this is the same topic as a current thread however I am experiencing the problem on an 03 explorer - I understand that 02 and later have a completely different trans setup.

My 03 V8 exp has 98K miles - just had the 90K service including trans flush 2K miles ago. The trans has been a little sloppy in the last 15K miles with an odd clunk as it shifts down - but basically driving fine. I have towed a TT about 20K of the total miles so I am not expecting the trans to be perfect.

Today when I was out the "check transmission" light came on and at the same time the "OD Off" light started flashing. It seemed to be driving and shifting OK.

I stopped at a store and then came back and re-started and drove home. The problem did not recur on the drive home.

Should I be worried about this?? I was planning to tow my TT 2K miles to California soon but am now a bit concerned about trans problems en-route.
