(S.P Diesel) Dont waste your time

After reading a few posts on this site I decided to order a T.C Lock controller
So I searched for the best place to order and I came across E.T.R Diesel.
After calling them and explaining what I wanted I was told that the S.P diesel
Electronic Exhaust brake/T.C controller was the way to go for the price.
I was told it would connect to my accelerator pedel harness and I would not have to cut any wires. Sounded great! the tech even said it would come with an optional controller that would allow me to lock and unlock my T.C manually as well. So I went ahead and orderd it . that was on 7/9/07 I called and asked where it was after a couple of weeks and I was told that it should have been there and that all sp diesel equipment is drop-shipped from sp diesel directly to my address.
So I started calling them that day. I still to this day have not received a call back and nobody has ever answered the phone.
I got the part in the mail on 8/2/07 but it was missing the wiring harness and controller.
I have been calling and leaving messages ever since then and still no answer as of yet.

This is an email I sent them.

My name is James Cortese.
I have been calling your office for quite some time and never get an answer
or a return call. I have left a number of messages with my name and Phone
number and still no return call.
I bought a T.C Lock controller/exhaust brake from E.T.R diesel online on
July 9 2007 and I was told it will come with a wiring harness that connects
to my factory harness as well as a controller so I can manually lock and
unlock my T.C . The only thing I received in the mail was the T.C
controller without a wiring harness or the manual controller I was told it
came with. and it took over a month to receive it in the mail. I called Jeff
at E.T.R diesel and he said it was drop shipped directly from you and that
he has not been able to reach your office by phone. All I want is what I
paid for I have been waiting almost two months now and I still do not have a
T.C lock controller.

I will post this email along with everything I have been through trying to
use your product on all of the diesel truck forums I belong to starting with
Ford-trucks.com</pre>

That is really unfortunate JCC, I hate hearing about that kind of service. I know ETR Diesel and my dealings with them have been good. It sounds like this other company is real joke though!

Thanks for sharing you situation with us, I hope everything works out for you!

Keep us posted

If you used a credit card to pay, contact the issuer and explain the situation, they seem to have a way to motivate companies in situations like this.

I second the sentiment and the suggestion of Slayer1. Your credit card company should go to bat for you fairly quickly. That will, in turn, motivate the propper people usually.

Sorry that happened to you. They sound like the customer service is trash. I'd stay right on there butt and also call the credit card company.

Along those same lines....if anyone here has personal water craft do not buy parts from www.alljetmotorsports.com. They sent me the wrong parts (like not even close) for my Kawasaki STX 1100 and are now doing the exact same thing that this SP Diesel place is doing. They will not return my calls or e-mails or even attempt to make it right.

Lucky for me I got a local PWC parts house down the road from my house to swap the wrong parts for the ones that I need. Kudos to Awesome Aqua Toys.

Thats the one I wanted too...

That stinks about thier service. There is a guy on Ebay that sells the exact same SP diesel setups. They are in the same city in (Cockeysville Maryland). He either works for them or gets them from them but he is a little bit cheaper than going through the spdiesel.com websight. I was really looking at this hard too. Hopefully one might have better luck going through the company directly rather than going through an authorized distributor? Hopefully this will end happily for you ...Let us know......Dave

I have bought several times from SP Diesel with no issues... Have you been e-mailing there tech line? Might try them over at some of the other diesel sites that they are sponsers of?

I got an email about an hour after I posted.
Here is what they had to say.

Mr Cortese:

It's always adviseable to email us for service. As for the shipment of your
product, drop ships are just that, it really depends on when we received the
order. We generally ship DS's within 48 hours as long as it's instock.

As for the connector, I am sure that if we had received the right part
number when it was ordered that it would have been shipped...This is a
common part we ship with TC lockers and EBTCs.

Send me your mailing address and I will get you a connector pigtail out and
then bill ETR back.

As for the threats of flaming us on the forum...well if I had a nickel.
These are never helpful statements and they don't make me move any faster to
resolve your problem.

As soon as I get your shipping address it will ship tonight or tomorrow.

Sean</pre>

I think it is really strange that this is the first reply I received.
and it was as soon as I posted my problem.
They watch these sites.
If he has had enough complaints that a nickel a piece would make him rich then he should not be in buisiness.
I will post if they send me the right parts.

Well if he thinks that a negative post on this forum doesn't negatively effect his business, and conversely post's talking about great customer service wouldn't help his business, he is sorely mistaken. People make mistakes all the time. The issue is how they handle them and make things right. Obviously this guy doesn't get that part of business 101.
