If you ask the state for the God given right to defend yourself, you already lost.
The "permission slip" the state gives you only limits your ability as to where you can carry and how.
If you agree to the permission slip, they define HOW YOU CARRY, as in holsters, etc...
If you don't follow their rules in lockstep you will be punished.

To start the process go or call the Sheriff's Dept. They have all of the info. Be prepared to wait once you start the paper work. It takes about 6 months in Ga. versus 2wks in AL.

Riggz....As another member already stated, your Sheriff's Office will be the ones to go to......
Regarding your "hairy" situation...There should be an emergency request clause in the paperwork for the CCP in which you can state an emergency situation, and they can speed up the process (or do an instant check and give you a probational CCP)......

don't settle on a pistol yet. go to a range that rents a wide selection of revolvers and auto's. choose what feels good in your hand, and that you will actually carry.
if you choose somethin too large or heavy, you won't carry it for long anyway so why bother.
The 40 is great in many variations, proven good round. 45 is better but ..
don't forget onion field insurance, a good back-up is essential!
Ignore the gun store rambo's.
find what system you like and look'n pray for competent instruction if needed.
