fuel economy - 1999 - 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel
I have just purchased a 1999, F350, 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel. I get 9.2 mpg pulling 20,000 pounds, 12 mpg pulling 6000 pounds and 15.9 mpg just driving around. I'd like to here from someone who has improved thier mileage.
I've heard that adding transmission fluid to the fuel will clean injectors and improve mpg. Any experience with this. How much/often/type/results.
Thanks

When pulling my concrete form trailers on the hiway at 2000 rpm's i get 14.5, the weigh in at 6500 to 8000 lb's. When I am running empty I get 17.5, truck with tools and me weigh 8500 lb's. Best I have gotten is 18.64 traveling through oregon without the cruise set and going the posted speed which was mostly 55-60.
I run Diesel kleen to help with the ulsd fuel and have modest results with added milage.
You don't mention if you have a hand shaker or auto. Manuals tend to get higher fuel milage than auto's
