Leaky master cylinder & no cruise control

My cruise control stopped working and I see a small leakage of brake fluid on the "recalled wiring harness with fuse." It appears to be coming from the connection point to the master cyclinder. I inspected the 2 Amp fuse in the recalled wiring harness and it was blown. I replaced the fuse but cruise control still does not work. Any thoughts or ideas on the fix?

Thanks, to clarify, I took the 2A blown fuse out. Tested the cruise control with a new fuse and it still did not work. Replaced with original blown 2A fuse.

neilc88 have you had the cruise control switch recall done, if not you really should. My Excursion almost caught fire I caught it when it was smoking, I disonnected the switch right away, leaked brake fluid for a few months before they finally issued a recall for the Excursions.

I believe you just need a new switch that screws into the end of the master cylinder.

Not sure if my 03 was included in that recall, but i think im gonna go ahead and add a 2 amp fuse to that wire if its not there already.

I'm just amazed ford ran that same switch for so long after it was a known problem on other vehicles. Then they come up with this hack fix for it. They should have redesigned the switch and replaced em all. I guess when teh company is struggling to stay above water this is what you get though.

The recall was performed and that is when I started having problems with the c.c. The X is going back to the dealer tomorrow.

the same happend to my X the cruise control stopped working and i notice a leak from the master cylinder....so the leak of the master cylinder is caused by the cruise control switch that screws into the end of the master cylinder???

I believe the brake fluid leaks through the switch itself and shorts out the circuit and starts the fire.

I thought they stopped using the hydroboost on the brakes a couple years back?
