New (to me) truck
After struggling to haul my ATV's around with my '99 3.0 Ranger Ext Cab Flareside for the last year, last Tuesday I finally broke down and bought an '01 F150 SuperCab. It's an XLT 2WD short box with 4.6 V-8, automatic tranny and 3.08 gears. I got a great buy, although the miles are a little high (37K).
Despite the high gears, it does a great job hauling the ATV's and is a very comfortable ride. It's much peppier than the last F150 I owned, a '96 with the 5.0 V-8. I was concerned about the small V-8 teamed with an automatic and high gears, but it seems to do well. I'm planning the usual mods as I can afford them (cat-back exhaust, FIPK, maybe a chip), but for now it'll do just fine.
