f250 5.4

I have a 99 f250 S.D. with the 5.4. It has nearly 200,000 miles on that engine and is still running great...so far. However, I can only know that it's not going to last forever. So, my question being, if I were to replace my engine, should I go with the same, or would be easy enough to go bigger. When I say easy, I'm asking what trannies, transfer cases, will hook up to what engines or am I gonna have to change everything? I've been searching the web and can't find anything like that. Also, I find that my truck seems a little under powered, but I have it lifted about 5" and I am running 39" tires right now. I plan on regearing to 5.36's and adding some lockers.

Well, 5.4L is the biggest V8 that will bolt in. That is the biggest that they make at this time. The gearing should help alot as would a good programmer like a Diablosport Predator or something like that.

i bet the v10 wouldnt be impossible to put in, which wouldnt be a bad idea with the tires and gearing you are going with...otherwise a newer 3v valve 5.4 with a blower would get things moving on the road

Stroke it, the 5.4 block will do. I plan on keeping my 5.4 block, but I do want to do a forged crank, rods and some good pistons. Setting up for a strong blower.

v10 will work with your tranny and everything... though I'm not sure on what would have to be moved around in the front to fit that beast in there...
