Aftermarket coolant temp gauge question

Any body out there installed an aftermarket coolant temp gauge? what temps are you running with the stock thermostat? I finally got my gauge installed and it seems to run pretty cool. Pretty much hovers at 180. My 95 with the 203 stat ran just above 200 all the time with the sender in the same spot.

give me your thoughts. I think its time for a 203 stat!

Where did you guys install the sender for the coolant temp gauge. I have an autometer waiting to get installed. Any pics? And where are you guys mounting the gauge? My pillar is full and im trying to see what my options are.

The coolant sender is mounted on the water pump. right under where the upper rad hose goes, then just below the thermostat there is a plug in the side of the pump. Thats where I put mine. I was gonna get pics of it earlier this week but the batteries are dead on the camera.

Right now my gauges are in two seperate single mounts under the ash try double sided taped to the dash. My 2 pod should arrive today that I place to mount on top of the dash next to the 3 pod pillar mount with my other gauges. Also should be getting my LED lights for them from ITP next week.

In my 95 I mounted the temp gauge in the instrument cluster bezel in the blank square right next to the wait to start light. it fit ok but not great.

Where do you find a 2 gauge pod that fits in the corner like that?

I just order the one at the very bottom of the listing
http://www.egauges.com/vdo_acce.asp?...Custom_Console

I am just going to make it fit. the curve of the dash will be the biggest problem. I may contour another piece and use it under the pod like a pedestal or I may just sand the contour into the pod use double sided tape or sticky velcro to attach it. I will know soon once big brown delivers my package.

Try this. He makes it look easy. The only problem I can see with this is the wheel hides part of it.

TJ, my electronic temp gauge usually runs around 185 - 200 depending on how hard I'm working on the truck.

Even when it's really cold out the lowest I've seen it get down to is 170. That was when the outside temp was well below 0.

TJ, I used the same gauge pod and just sanded the bottom of the pod in a curve. The fit is good, and then I used two screws to secure it to the dash. Look here: http://rides.webshots.com/album/559858991OvHdGQ
In the bottom left photo you can see the two gauge pod mounted next to the A pillar and how the center of the pod base is thinner than the outside edges from where I sanded it to fit. Hope this helps you some.

Glad I could help. From your webshots it looks like you have the Medium Opal Interior color. If so, the Ford part # for the spray can paint is M4JZ-19M547-4221H, it is discontinued, but have your Ford parts person do nationwide search for it, there are still some cans out there at dealers. Enjoy yourself this weekend.

i gutted my factory gauges on the right side and used the cyberdyne oil pressure, fuel pressure, coolant temp, and fuel level in there now. my voltage is on the brakesmart, and the pyro/boost is at the bottom of the a pillar i made a little pod for it that keeps it as low as possible so it dosnt look like i have the gauges.........and not having the blocked vision is nice too.

Did you mean that you replaced the stock gauges or did you just mod it to fit more. I'm not sure what you meant. Is there a way to remove the stock guages in our dash to put real ones in place of them? I guess thats what you meant
