Would need to know more about your truck and how you're using it. I get 12-14 around town; about 17 on the highway - unloaded.

best way to get better mileage is to decrease idle times, change fuel filters every 12-15k miles, and have a lighter foot. also bigger tires can make a huge difference. most people post up their avg mpg, but not their tire size.

is it a 4x4? is it SRW or DRW, what diff. ratio? Do you drive 65 or 80 on the hwy?

geese, this is like pulling teeth...

empty, my truck in my sig line, with the big tires does mid 17s on the hwy if I keep it under 70mph. Lost about 2+ mpg when I went to the big tires, but I love the way it looks and they work much better off road.

Camper loaded, horses in the trailer I'm pushing the 18 - 19k lbs range and am 9.5 to 11 mpg (but rarely get to do just hwy, so that's a 75/25 hwy/slow-hilly roads number).

A couple more questions....

Is the truck a early or late build '04?
What flash is the truck running on?

My late build '04 is running on the "buzz" flash and is completely stock other than the 35X12.50R18 tires.

On the hwy at 75 mph I am getting right about 17 mpg, on two lane country roads at 60 mph I am getting right about 18 mpg and in the city I am getting right about 13-14 mpg. This is all unloaded.

My f350 is stock except for the gibson turbo back exhaust. just came back from a trip to colo spgs and averaged 18mpg@ mainly 80mph. wasnt getting any better at 2000-2100 than at 2400-2500 rpm, so went with the higher setting. wife loved it, comfort and good mpg at the same time. Diesel world ran an article on an 04 f250/350 4x. got up to around 23mpg, synthetic oil, synthetic lub in diffs and transfer case, got up to around 21 with a chip, exhaust and intake kit, and up to 23 when they put on a tonnue cover. I am planning the change to the synthetics, not sure about a chip or programmer. may get a bed cover but not sure yet.

Mines an 04, running stock engine, tires are 285-75R 16 Mickey Thompson's. Around town I get 14-15 mpg and on the highway about 18-19. That not towing. Pulling my 8500 lb trailer I got 11-12 mpg. I find I get the best mileage keeping the shifts under 2500 rpms. I try not to jack rabbit off on the green light.
