My Sons 6.4(Real Soon)
Well my 37 year old stopped over Saturday & took me up to the Ford place to show me what he's buying real soon.(He already test drove a 6.4 F250 CC 4X4 & loved it) from my eye's it gets a WoW! factor of 10.........(His Dad's eye's also scanned the 350's also) He currently owns a F250 V10 CC & loves it but always wanted the Diesel. I've read a quite few of these threads & very few problems with it, other than a few trying to hammer it for no reason. This will be first Powerstroke(Diesel), what is the biggest difference from his V10 & going to the 6.4. (Will he be a Happy Camper/ he has very big expectations.)?
He's always been a truck guy, T-100, Tundra, & now his 250 V10 & never looked back(Tundra was a baby truck compared to his now)...........Thx

A lot of variables, I went from a 99 V10 350DRW to a 450. Towing 16,650# is a total difference. But I also went from 3.73s to 4.30s. What gear ratio is he getting and is he planning to tow? From what I understand, going from a V10 to the 6.4 might be a lot of difference unless you are towing over 12,000# or so. Fuel mileage is only a good increase if the 6.4 has 3.73s, running above the 2,000 rpms on the diesel chews up fuel. Towing I get about 2 mpg better. Empty about the same as my V10. But towing my fiver is total difference. Ford built this truck to tow, no doubt about it. Best of luck to you both. Did I tell you how much I really, really like my new 08?

He's getting a boat & that' all he'll be towing, don't really know what rear gears he's getting, but that's a great point & we never talked about it. I was just with him at lunch at my house, & he has it bad for this 6.4. His V10 is an 03 & is a fabulous looking truck, but like I said, he has the bug. I would post a picture after we installed his Westin Bull Bar & Light's but it seems like I can't put an image in here yet.
