expedition/excursion economy

Im looking at a expedition or a v-10 excursion witch I being told gets 8-10mpg in the city. What would I expect with the expedition 5.4 or 4.6. I wont tow anything with it just need a bigger family car. Not excursion big but if the fuel mileage were somewhat considerable I just assume go big. What do ya think.

FWIW,

My 03 4x4 5.4L Expedition averages 14.

My 05 2x4 6.8L V10 Excursion averages the same.

My expy gets about 11 city. Up to about 17 if exclusively highway. Right now I'm averaging about 13 in mixed daily driving. Stop and go driving really kills these heavy beasts.

I get 11mpg in my 2005 Expedition 4x4, 15mpg on a 300+ mile highway trip

those are true numbers, the onboard computer always tells you at least one extrampg to look good!

03 EB Expedition with 5.4L gets about 13.5 in the city. I can get as high as 19 hwy if I really try and just cruise no faster than 70. Basically I have to keep RPMS below 2k to get decent mileage

I've got a '01 EB Epedition that's getting 13.7 right now. I just put a K&N cold air box on it so I'm waiting to see if that make a difference. Remember that performance parts can add MPG's as well as HP, you just have to keep your foot out of the gas and that becomes ever more difficult to do...

I'm planning on adding a cat back system, spark plug upgrade/replacement, and I'm looking into a power programmer. If you've done any of these let us know if you've seen any added MPG's (or reduced MPG's for that matter).

I just picked up an 05 Expy 5.4 4x4. Appear to be getting around 11 mpg with stricly city driving (no freeways and lots of stop lights). And that's going light on the gas. These are not good to own if you are afraid of oil prices.

Expy/Excursion economy?

Never use the words "Expediton/ Excursion" and "economy" in the same sentence

Haha!!! So true...

My 2WD 00 Expedition EB w/5.4L got barely over 10mpg in mostly city driving. We are now looking to get a 2WD 04 EB's w/5.4L. Hopefully the mpg will be at least a bit better...

Yep... The Expy/ Excursion economy line caught me. Those are words that you never thought you'd say in a sentence. Kinda like "Oh please no more cash for me, my pockets are already full"
I get 14mpg avg with 5.4
