replt to mross

military retirement 22 years service, texas teachers retirement 26 years in the classroom, VA 80 percent due to combat wounds, CRSC subliment for combat wounds, Started social security at 62, hold couple first liens on houses
I sold to some nice folks. Trying as hard as I can to spend my kids inheritance.

won't respond to the nasty remark made about peckers and such, but I planned my retirements back when I was a kid and worked at it. Woke up one morning 4 years ago and said." i'm 62, time to go see this county, I defended her for long time and taught about her also" so thats what I'm doing.Going to golf in all 50 states, spend a minimun of a week in each, golfing and sightseeing. Got 34 states so far. Can't complain life's been good. Hpoe this answers your question to me.

I get great milage out of my truck. 14 MPG town and 21 MPG Hwy, driving 70MPH with an extra 210HP. I get no less than 10MPG towing to the limit. Thats a far cry from the 9 in town and 11.5 i was getting stock.

I'm just amazed by all the people that have to comment about the guys that mod there trucks. Were stupid,foolish,youngsters.....ect. If you dont like it you dont always have to comment about it. Obviously weve done somthing right to have these trucks in the first place. With that being said im happy with the milage and the performance on the truck with aftermarket tuning

sanddmon08, I've enjoyed many of your postings. The point I was making is that lots of folks spend so much money on the mods and then still see less mileage then those who don't mod the rig. example. jacking them up creates more drag andn less mileage. several different types of mod to the engine and really not much gain. 40-60 thous for a rig and then no warrenty. just doesn't make sense. but as I posted, your truck your money. I'll just keep mine stock and enjoy my warrenty and the good mileage I get. Didn't buy mine to race, bought mine to pull a travel trailer and I am very pleased with the results. I am glad you did something right to have one, no problem there. good luck in your future.

Ya i agree, the overall thread just seemed to be turning against the guy's modifing there trucks.

I dont beat on my truck and i too bought it to tow a gooseneck and a large enclosed race trailer. I feel my truck tuned will last me just as long tuned is if i had'nt do to fact that i dont abuse it. The power i have is useable power that i have and can tow safely with. I dont tow more than what the truck is capable just because i have more power. As a results i have seen positive gains across the board loaded and unloaded.

I've said this many times over, the same tune that can give 4 to 6 more MPG can take away the same amount if you abuise the additional HP. I here constiantly that the milage comes from removing the DPF. Will this is true the DPF removal does, but does not fully constitute the milage gains. Alot more is done with the tuning that always gets over looked such as timing, fuel pressure, torque management, shift pressure ect. The 6.0 never had a DPF and alot of aftermarket tuning improved the milage on it just as well. Im sure when people start using the DPF friendly tuning a little more there also going to see good gains without the EPA liability alot are concerened about.

I always like to here this statement: If it could have been better, ford would have already done it. This cilche is a bunch of B.S. IMO. Ford enginners spend alot of time coming up with the basic tuning. More times then none do they fall short in time and money to perfect the tuning and this is were the aftermarket guys can come in and make a diffrence in power and fuel ecomony we see with there aftermarket tuning. This tuning is not easy, if it was ever tom dick and harry would be out there doing it. This is just my IMHO. Take it for what it is.

I have the 08 XLT , 6.4 crew 4x4 with 84k miles. Bone stock- MPG gets better after break in. Just took a trip from VA to SC, got 19.2 hwy running 70 and 14.3 city. Thats about the best I can do. Still better than my Wrangler Rubicon which only get 15 mpg and weighs 1/3 as much. I'm happy.

Maybe it was just me. lol My dealer never said anything about what kind of mileage it would get and hell probably half the salesmen have never even driven a superduty enough to know what kind of mileage they would get. Now I do know that when mine goes into the cleaning mode(whatever that is) if I am driving thru town man it sucks up some fuel. Has anyone else noticed this? I still love it though. LONG LIVE THE SUPERDUTY lol
Just got my F250 crew cab 4x4 a week ago I have noticed the same thing around 13.5 city and 16 hwy but when cleaning cycle mpg sucks, but dosen't till real long for that to end. I 700 miles and am hopeful this will improve.

I'm a middle aged poor man who thought $2.57 for diesel was decent and who was hoping for 12-15 towing with the 08.. If I knew what I know now about the mileage (me 9mpg towing) and emmisions crap and didn't have to trade in a damn 03 Expy 5.4 (It was not going to last towing) to get the 08, I would have gone for good used moded 7.3..I like run on sentences and biscuts...

Could kick myself for letting go of my 7.3.

Why would anyone have a problem with what someone else does to their truck or how they choose to spend their money. We are happy with our stock truck and it does the job we purchased it for. I am now a old fart but I was once a young guy living in the moment guy(remember those times) The only difference between that young guy and this old fart is we have lived longer, learned much and are a lot smarter. We once spent more money doing things to a 64 Chebby than we paid for it. Stupid by this old guys standards..yes...fun by that young guys standards..you bet. Have fun..
