That's what being young is all about. Being stupid, spending alot of money and letting you old farts think your fast until we roll some smoke and show you the custom tailgate. Have you forgot what it's like to be young.

That is GREAT mpg's! Shows what could have been with an OEM 6.4L PSD if it weren't for the "Tree huggers" and the FEDS to *uck it up.

For those of you that are happy with your stock trucks, good for you.

But hell, myself and thousands of other people just don't want to be driving a truck that had 20 identical models on the same lot. I wanted an excellent work truck that had tons of power and got exceptional fuel mileage, I got it. Others want a lifted truck with big ass tires, not too hard to get.

So if you're happy getting 16 mpg, go for it. I'm just as happy with 500 horsepower and being able to drive from Mexico to Dallas on half a tank of diesel.

I have an 08' F350 crew-cab dually 4x4 with 7,900 miles, I'm only getting 10.6 around town on a good day and 12.3 on the highway. I have also tried contacting ford about the milage problem but they just gave me the run around never answering my question that I had asked. All in all I love the trucks power and ride.

I am almost identical, but we have the best truck on the road. Let 'em all mess with their engines. I enjoy driving my truck, the way it was built. I just hope that the price of fuel comes down. Hell would freeze over before I would buy a CUMMINS, or a DODGE. And before I would allow any brain surgeon to modify the engine, I would be on the other side of the grass! My thoughts only...

Well i am an old fart, but this old fart "ain't stupid" I can prove purchases of 58 new vehicals since March 1966. YOu young folks just go ahead and piss your money away anyway you want to. I'd rather pay cash every 14 months for a new toy. Nice being an old fart with 109,000 per year in retirement. Not bad for a county boy.....I'll still keep my toys stock. Like it when I go in and have it fixed under warrenty......Course "ain't been in yet" 21000 miles so far with not a problem.....Hmmmmm must be the way the old fart goes on down the road with the travel trailer in tow>>>>

F450 4:30 Job 3 Looking Hard To Buy!! BUT

My wife and I are looking at a loaded F450 4x2, the lie-o-meter said 13.2 (tested @ 60 mph with CC on) The truck has 50 miles on it.
We also tested a F450 4x4 and it read 13.6. It had 178 miles on it!
From what I have read, that is all we can expect from the truck unloaded. maybe a small increase after break in.
Any One???????

P.S we have a great deal -$$$$$ waiting at the dealer!

SAD Day!! Our 05 F350 gets 10.6 mpg towing ( 24,500 Combined Weight) and 16, 16.5 hwy. @ 60mph. We may just keep our 05. Fuel is a killer, because we are on the road full time now!!

You say we're pissing our money away by modifying our trucks.....hmmm. Since I've removed my DPF I have saved $1,100 in diesel costs, another few months and it's completely paid for itself. Also since my DPF is gone I do not have to worry about lighting my $2.3Mil ranch on fire because of the excessive heat caused by the regeneration cycle.

Now it sounds like you buy a new vehicle every year, and you say I'm pissing my money away. Wait until 2010 when diesels will have urea injection in the emission equipment, you will literally be pissing your money away.

I received an advertisment from FORD today. $3,000. plus all other options as additional discount till September 2nd. Need to prove you are a Ford owner.

Msgtcook: I had a 2005 F-350 dually, identical to my 2008 F-350 dually. I had a hard tonneau cover on my 2005, and an ARE cap on my 2008. Specs. identical, maybe one mpg more on my 2005, BUT, PLEASE REMEMBER, back then we were burning LSD 500 ppm sulfur fuel, which was hotter than what we burn today, aka, ULSDF 15 ppm sulfur.

To which I say "ain't no difference, and the 2008 is twice the truck the 2005 was"!

Now, to larrygranny1, give these 65 year old bones the wisdom of your investments! You must have put your money in the babushka, cause the banks are going broke. I know it wasn't FORD stock, and not GM. Chrylser needs the gov't again. I am going to quit guessing, but good for you. I have flown with the EAGLES and picked sh^t with the CHICKENS in my lifetime, but in 1999 I made 1767 stock trades and that allows a life style similar to yours! Good luck to all.

+1 When a better truck is made, Ford will make it. BTW I drove my buddy's new 2500 Chevy Dmax last week and it felt like a tinny POS. He drove my 08 250 and stated that he wished that he knew how nice the ford was before he bought the GM. Oh well.........................

At 26K combined weight I and some others here have been seeing around 8.5 to 9 MPG with our F450s with 4.30 rears and 4x4. Stock I got around 14-15 highway and 12-13 city. I added a Gearvendor OD and now can get close to 17 highway.

When I drove it home from the dealer...55-60MPH for about 100 miles the lie-o-meter read 15.1 when I got home.

Hey, we all have our opinions. I have a 125 cc SUZUKI motor scooter. It gets 55 mpg. I want a tuner to make it go 100 mph, and get me 54 mpg, and then maybe I don't!

I think, if FORD could do it over, they would replicate HONDA's success story and start with some two wheel vehicles. Who knows, maybe they will, maybe they are, and wouldn't that be great to have a Ford BIKE on a a FORD F-350!
