460 hp/tq
Could someone tell me the stock hp/tq of a 1976 460? I have heard a multitude of numbers ranging from Spike TV's Trucks saying 400hp and 460 lb/ft of torque to soccer-mom sites saying as low as 215 horsepower and not even bothering to mention torque, because for some reason a whole lot of people don't even know torque is an engine spec.

source: standard catalog of ford, 1903-2003.
460's in passenger cars are listed as bhp: 202@3800rpm, torque: 352@1600 rpm.
8.0:1 compression ratio.
the mid 70's were the darkest days as mfg's tried to meet emission and fuel economy standards. your 460 has plenty of potential, don't let the number get ya.
cheers, claude

My stock 1985 F350 with a factory 4 barrel carb is rated at 245HP 380Torque.
I do know that late 60's early 70's car 460's(torino, mustang, and so on) Had 375HP and 450Torque(obviously the more desireable choice)
These motors had better flowing heads, a 9.5 to 1 compression ratio and no smog crap. Hope this helps. ; )
