Cool First Thing Stolen From Truck

The Tail Of The Missing Tailgate
Today at work I drove my truck and couldnot get my usual spot by the shop at Canadian Tire so I parked across from it where I have parked many times over the last 1.5 years or so. When I got home at 9:45 I noticed that something was not right I could see the ground when backing up my truck into the laneway. Thats when I realised someone had stolen the tailgate off of the truck. So I went back to work thinking that oh maybe one of the guys in the shop took it off and hid it on me. Wrong no where to be found. So it turns out that between 4:20 and 9:20 pm someone was desperate enough to take the tailgate from my truck instead of just buying one for $50 or so. I was not impresed at all what is this world coming to that you cant even park your truck (or car) in the parking lot of your work without some thing happening to it. So if you see someone driving a ford pickup with a rollered flat black tailgate with a liner and crome cap on it ask them what type of paint they used cause maybe they wont know. I am sure aht I am probably not the only person to get something stolen from their truck but thought it would be good to let you vent your frusterations if you did.

Sucks that you got your tailgate stolen. If it was my tailgate that got stolen the person who stole it better hope that I never find out it was them . And I'll be on the lookout for your tailgate even though I'm nowhere near Burlington. Sorry to say it but it probably ended up being sold to a scrap yard for _______ money.

That sucks, my step-dad's tailgate off of an 2000 F350 got stolen. It is my belief that they probably aren't stealing tailgates for money, instead they are doing it just to pi$$ somebody off. Good think you have to have an IQ over 80 to open my tailgate, so the retarded wannabee hudlums can't steal my tailgate.

bitfordtough: theft like that is bloody annoying and a big waste of your time and money. I knew a guy back in the 60s in college who would steal parts off other people's vehicles if the chance came up. He wasn't a bad guy other than that one big character flaw. He was very intelligent but strange. I argued with him several times but his excuse was always the same - "they'll just take the same part off the next guy's truck". Never understood his twisted logic...
Don't let this example of stupidity get you down! Perhaps you need an enormous Rotweiller(sp?) in the bed....also, the bonus is that young ladies will be attracted! Best of luck replacing that tailgate.

That sucks about your tailgate, i hope you find it. I dunno what kind of truck you have, but i have the tailgate off my 97 that i took off my truck, when the handle broke. it's yours for a case of beer. I actually like not having a tailgate, makes hooking up the gooseneck easier.

Well, last time i checked my truck hasnt had stuff stolen off it, but then again its been sittin in a dealership lot for about a month since the people there let me store it there until i get around to replacing the engine, so who knows...? goin to pick it up and trailer it to my buddys shop tomarow so i'l find out then.

I put a c clamp on top of the right hinge, so now somebody can't just walk buy and pull my tailgate off.
