Question Odd problem

I've been noticing sometimes when I start my truck in the morning, the engine will rev high, the check engine light will flash, then I put it in drive, the rpms fall like the truck is going to stall, then it's fine and the check engine light stays off!! Any ideas??

If you bump the throttle does the revving stop? Have you ever cleaned the IAC? sounds like its getting stuck.

You mean like in the old days of kicking off the choke? No, haven't touched the throttle when this happens. Are there any write ups on how to clean the IAC??

I searched through the articles and couldn't find anything pertaining to the IAC on a Bronco. Haven't pulled codes yet, just wanted to see what was involved with cleaning/replacing the IAC.

It is easy to clean a can of carb cleaner pull off Iac and you should see the plunger in there all gunked up. Spray it liberally until it's nice and shiney. Make sure you hold the motor up or else all that gunk will go back inside it. On a cold start your truck should rev up then a tap on the gas will make it go to a normal idle, or wait 90 secs and it will go down itself!
