No problem. It is not that easy to see in there but it can be done. I used a large socket and breaker bar on the crank rather than trying to bump the starter around to align the rod end for viewing. Good luck.
EDIT: BTW, it just occurred to me. I remember it was a PITA shining a light in that hole while trying to look in at the same time. It's dark in there. I think this can be done far easier during an oil change with a slim penlight shining through the oil drain hole while you look through the inspection hole. Just a thought.

On almost every truck I've checked the engine build date is within a week or so of the truck build date. I have no doubt that you have PMR's as 4/01 is well after the switch was made.
