Question 96 F150 speakers

Does anyone know what size speakers will work in a 1996 F150 regular cab? I think that the fronts are something like 5 1/4 and but the backs are something weird like 5x8.

Fronts are, indeed, 6 1/2." I found that out only because my left door speaker is shot...

Are you sure that the front speakers are 6 1/2 because i have a 1996 f-150 and the speakers are 5 1/4 and the rear are 5" x 7".

I put in polk 6-1/2's and 5x7's from crutchfield in my 95. I do like infinity better but the ones they had at the time said wouldn't fit so I got the polks cause I like to have all speakers match.

Im in the middle of putting new speakers in my 93. I bought a set of 6.5" Infinity Kappa Perfects for the front and a set of 6x8" Infinity Kappas for the rear. I assume even though your truck is a 96 it will most likely have the same size speakers

If it's a Ford/Mazda spec speaker then the size is 5 1/4" front and 4 X 7" rear. Standard size speakers are listed as a size larger. Why? I don't know. I was just at Circuit City and as I recall that is what I was quoted for sizing. Although I may have the rears confused. Just go by the audio charts for your truck.

My truck is a '91. But the door itself will interchange, so I'd think the '92 and newer would use a 6 1/2" as well.

Replaced them on my 93 last week.

Fronts= 6 1/2" (must be a shallow depth speaker)
Rear = 6"x8" (many 5x7's have same mount positions)

Crutchfields has a vehicle lookup on thier website.

Regards
Ken

I'm looking at speakers for mine, but everything I find is either crap or has the little dinky speakers mounted in the middle that stick out a little too much. I guess that doesn't constitute a shallow-depth speaker...and where would the rear speakers, if any, be found in my regular-cab truck?

My fronts are not shallow depth, in fact they even have the plastice grill that comes with mthem installed. And far as the rears they are in the corners of the cab behind the seat about mid way up, four screws hold them on (behind a plastic grill).

The reason I stated shallow depth is only because the speakers that had a deeper measurement (in excess of 2-5/16") were NOT listed as fitting my truck. The deeper ones MAY indeed work.

The speakers I refered to are not marketed as "shallow depth", only the specifications suggested that.

I used the Kenwood KFC-1661S.

These have a listed depth of 1-13/16". The vehicle look up on that site suggest that the deeper speakers wont fit a stock installation.
Here is the list of front speakers that are claimed to fit a 1996 F series.

There are many 6-1/2" speakers showing as NOT fitting a stock, unmolested application.

I don't know first hand if this is the case. The deeper ones may indeed work.?????

Regards
Ken
