It takes a lot of mods to get a 7.3 to match a stock 6.0. That's just how it is. Newer technology.

i don't think he had a stock truck. if you could pull almost 250 ft with a stock 6.0 then everybody would buy them and mod them with a tuner, exhaust, and intake and probably make a full pull. that guy was probably lyin' to ya

if your pulling on a transfer sled, momentum is everything I own a 97 250 zf 4.10 and a 03 250 zf 6spd 6.0 with 3.73 s both trucks are chipped and exhausted and on the transfer sled there is no comparison at 8000lbs the 6.0 will flat out out run the 7.3 because itll spin 4100 rpm wheelspeed is everything. But when I'm hauling logs theres nothing like the off idle grunt of a 7.3.

there's part of your problem, imo you should have been in l2 or maybe even l3 to get some more wheel speed. I wouldnt be to discouraged, get a few more mods and whip his but next time.

150ford is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.150ford is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Can I ask what gears did he have in the rear. Did you power out or spin out. Waht did he do when he pulled. power out or spin out. My guess with your older truck some 4:10 or higher gears for that. Dont forget tire kinds an pressure make big diffences in pulling also.
One more question what can configuration are you both running. Reg,super or crew.

HI FOLKS, BEEN ALOT OF SNOW HERE SO I'VE BEEN PLOWING ALL WEEKEND.
HIS TRUCK IS CREW CAB W/ 6.4 3:73 I BELIEVE. HE OWNS THE DEALERSHIP SO IT,S HARD TO SAY WHAT HE MAY HAVE DONE. BUT I TALKED TO A COUPLE OF HIS MECHANICS & THEY WERE THE ONE'S THAT TOLD ME HE ONLY HAD A K&N AIR FILTER ON IT & NO OTHER UPGRADES. I THINK HIS TRANS HAS ALOT TO DO WITH IT.
WHEN I PULL I HAVE TO BE IN 1st OR DRIVE WHEN I START THE PULL, IF I PUT IT IN 2nd THE TRANS WONT GO INTO 1st GEAR & I GET NO START AT ALL.
I HAD MY GOODYEAR MTR TIRES IN THE FRONT DOWN TO ABOUT 15# OF AIR, REAR TIRES @ 60#
I WAS TOLD THATS THE WAY TO RUN THE TIRES BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT ON THE REAR WHEELS. MAYBE COULD LOWER THE PRESSURE ON REARS NEXT TIME TO 30-35,
HOPING FOR SOME ADVISE THAT WILL HELP PARDS! GONNA BE A WHILE FOR TRANS UPGRADES ECT FOR A WHILE BOUGHT A NEW HARLEY LAST WEEKEND. I OWE I OWE SO OF TO WORK I GO GO GO. LUKE I HEAR YOUR TRUCK IS THE DODGE KILLER. MAYBE NEXT YEAR FOR ME TO START PLAYING AROUND LIKE YOU.

When I pull, I run 35's with 3.73 gears, a tuner and exhaust, and start in second gear, 4-low. About half track, I shift into third and spin out at the end of the pull. Usually in the top 5 trucks. I run a 6.0L with automatic.

I agree, 4-low + 1st gear low is just too low to get any momentum up. Heck, on a truck like mine doing that, I'd only be able to do 2 or 3 mph at 5000RPM, lol.
